Amber Lane Is a New Award Winning Whisky
Until this year, 2023, Amber Lane whisky distillery was an unknown creator of fine spirit. Suddenly in less than a year, it has become a top whisky producer outperforming world single malt giants.
Amber Lane Whisky Storms the Competition
As whisky enthusiasts, owners, master distillers, and the press gathered to celebrate the best whiskies from the top countries worldwide, they expected renowned names and lifelong tastes. Disappointingly, these were not forthcoming. Instead a little heard of whisky stole a category win and gold medal at the World Whiskies Awards 2023 and gold and double gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Awards 2023.
In addition, the whisky brand snapped up two silver medals, netting a total of six medals in its first show appearance.
Amber Lane Distillery is in its first year of sales. The company was founded by Rod Berry in 2018 and is an Australian spirit creator. The achievements were not lost on the whisky community, who chose to investigate why a young whisky could steal the top awards.
According to the Whissky List who now have signed a partnership with Amber Lane, it was a merited crowning.
“There is significant demand for quality Australian whisky matured in Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry casks. I would even say that Amber Lane’s unique flavor profile and style of whisky is akin to that of traditional sherry cask matured Scotch Whiskies like Macallan, Glenfarclas, and GlenDronach’ sated Oliver Maruda, Co-Founder of The Whisky List.
In addition to the bold comparison by Maruda, Amber Lane’s founder Berry confirmed the essence of the spirits.
“Our goal was never to rush to market. Using premium large 250L PX and Oloroso whisky barrels from Spain takes several more years to reach maturation ready for bottling, however, the extra time our whisky has spent in cask has really allowed the flavors of our new make spirit to strike a refined balance.”
The Whisky List will now distribute the AmberLane whisky brands in its select stores and online.
