Ardbeg Whisky Brand Launches The Harpy’s Tale
Ardbeg Whisky Distillery has launched The Harpy’s Tale, the first in its special experimental Anthology Collection. The whisky brand marks the beginning of a series of Islay single malt spirits.
The special whisky entered the market after maturing 13 years in a combination of ex-bourbon and Sauternes wine casks. The spirit was officially released as Ardbeg Anthology: The Harpy’s Tale and will be available for £141. Ardbeg Whisky fans can purchase it at the company’s website, at the visitor’s center, and at selected stores.
However, the opening price of the whisky may create long lines as Ardbeg whiskies are highly regarded and in high demand. For example, in July 2022, A cask of ultrarare Ardbeg scotch whisky was sold for £16 million. The price replaced the previous records of the most expensive whisky held by a Casks of The Macallan at $2.33 million.
In addition, Ardbeg Whisky Distillery is a member of the LVMH group which is known for luxury products. The whisky belonged to the Cask No 3 was distilled in 1975 by Ardbeg and is one of the oldest and rarest whiskies in its portfolio.
Ardbeg Whisky Fusion
According to Dr Bill Lumsden, director of distilling, the Anthology is all about fusion.
“We have embarked on a bold maturation experiment to fuse Ardbeg’s signature smokiness with more nuanced, sweeter notes for our new release The Harpy’s Tale – resulting in a very unusual and complex breed of Ardbeg,”
The company has joined the latest trend of whisky distilleries to create experimental editions of their spirits.
