Speyside distiller Benriach has released their Smoke Season single malt whisky – a heavily peated “smoky” whisky that gets its name from the “season” when whiskies are most smoked with peat.
Benriach’s Smoke Season has been matured in both charred and toasted American virgin oak and first-fill bourbon barrels, uses Highland peat from the mainland, is bottled at 52.8% alcohol by volume [105.6 proof] and is said to contain notes of apple, caramel, cinnamon, orange peel and hickory.
Benriach Smoke Season is being made available in some global markets in March 2021 [but not in the USA until September 2021] for $75 per bottle.
