Bruichladdich Dispatches Octomore 16
Islay-based distillery Bruichladdich has released a quartet of single malts comprising their 16th annual highly peated Octomore series.
Bruichladdich Octomore 16.1 uses 100% Scottish mainland Concerto barley, was malted to 101.4 PPM and was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels for five years before being bottled at 59.3% alcohol by volume 118.6 proof] and is said to contain notes of intense peat smoke, salted caramel and and coconut. It is being made available for $190 per bottle.
Bruichladdich Octomore 16.2 was matured in Oloroso sherry and Bordeaux casks, finished in Madeira and Portuguese Moscatel and is said to contain notes of smoke, roasted nuts and dried fruits that are enveloped in sweet smoke. It is being made available for $210 per bottle.
Bruichladdich Octomore 16.3 was matured in a combination of bourbon, Sauternes and Pedro Ximénez casks, bottled at 61.6% alcohol by volume [123.2 proof] and is said to contain notes of campfire smoke. It is being made available for $260 per bottle.
Bruichladdich Octomore 16.4 will not be available until November 2025 but when it is available, it will only be available to online retail outlets.
Bruichladdich Octomore 16.4 was bottled at 62.6% alcohol by volume [125.2 proof] and is said to offer notes of coffee beans, dark chocolate and smoke.
