Bruichladdich Reveals Port Charlotte 18 Years Old
Islay-based Bruichladdich Distillery has released their 2025 edition of the heavily-peated Port Charlotte 18 Years Old. Port Charlotte is named after a village two miles south of Bruichladdich Distillery.
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 18 Years Old was made using 100% Scottish barley, was initially matured in three different types of casks – 53% in first-fill bourbon, 31% in second-fill sherry and 16% in sherry for 11 years – then was followed by five years in virgin French oak and a final maturation session in second-fill bourbon casks, subsequently bottled at 51.5% alcohol by volume [103 proof] and is said to impart notes of caramel, hazelnut, vanilla and, of course, peat and smoke.
Only 8000 bottles of Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 18 Years Old are being made available directly from Bruichladdich’s website and select retail venues for $220 per bottle.
