Bruichladdich Rolls Out New Whisky Expressions
Bruichladdich Launches Two New Whisky Expressions
Bruichladdich Eighteen was distilled without chill filtration from a combination of organic barley from Islay and Scottish Mainland barley. The whisky was aged in bourbon casks or matured in Port and Sauternes casks before being blended to be vatted for another nine months.
As per the brand, this 50 percent ABV expression comes with floral aromas and flavors of ripe peach, vanilla, and creamed coconut. It leaves the palate with vivid flavors of honey, butterscotch, and syrup-soaked porridge with a classic mineral finish.
The Bruichladdich Thirty is made from the same blend and is matured exclusively in bourbon barrels for 30 years, with half maturing in refill hogsheads and the rest in refill hogsheads, then recasked into fresh bourbon barrels for the final 10 years.
After being blended and vated for three months, the whisky is bottled at 43.2 percent ABV with aromas of oak, coconut, Brazilian nuts, and vanilla, as well as notes of dark fruit, honey, and leather.
While Bruichladdich Eighteen showcases the distillery’s ethos of locally-grown barley, The Bruichladdich Thirty pays homage to the brand’s history. In 1994, the distillery shut down except for two staff members who supervised the whisky aged in the warehouses.
The Bruichladdich Eighteen and The Bruichladdich Thirty are available online and in retail locations across the country. Later this year, Bruichladdich will release The Bruichladdich Twenty One as a Global Travel Retail exclusive, bringing to a close the line of high provenance whiskies with age statements.
