Connacht Re-Brands As Ballina
Irish whiskey distillery Connacht has re-branded to become Ballina after being purchased by Terroirs Distillers [owner of Tullibardine]. Connacht Distillery originally opened in 2015.
The newly-named Ballina Distillery has also released a pair of single malt whiskies – Dúbailte Double Wood and Triarach Triple Wood – the former being double-casked and the latter being triple-casked.
Ballina Dúbailte Double Wood was matured in both is ex-bourbon (55%) and ex-Oloroso sherry (45%) casks, bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to contain notes of butterscotch, green apple and raisin.
Ballina Dúbailte Double Wood is being made available for $60 per bottle.
Ballina Triarach Triple Wood was aged in a trio of casks: ex-bourbon (50%) and ex-Oloroso sherry (40%) along with ruby Port (10%), was also bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to contain notes of dates, fig, pear and plum.
Ballina Triarach Triple Wood is being made available for $70 per bottle.
