Friends of Fort George Holds Annual Whisky Tasting Event
As part of their partnership with Forty Creek Distilleries, the Friends of Fort George will host their fourth annual whisky tasting event at Navy Hall, hosted by Forty Creek North American brand ambassador Chris Thompson. There will be award-winning Forty Creek whisky samples available.
“It’s very important for the community,” Tony Chisholm said. “It’s important for the friends, important for the people to be aware of the extracurricular activities Parks Canada does at this time. We couldn’t have done the events without their support.”
The event will take place on Saturday, March 23, and highlight the role alcohol played in the lives of soldiers stationed at Fort George in the 19th century. During the war, rum was provided as a ration for enlisted soldiers, and in the mess halls of the officers, exotic drinks played an important role in their meals.
