Loch Lomond Launches Spearhead
Loch Lomond Distillery has released Spearhead – their new single grain whisky made using a continuous Coffey-style still.
Loch Lomond Spearhead was matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in both fire- and infrared-toasted [for precise toasting] virgin American oak barrels – Loch Lomond Distillery claims to be the only site in Scotland to use infrared barrels to finish whisky – before being bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to contain notes of blackberries, caramel, dark chocolate, lime and vanilla.
Loch Lomond Spearhead is being made available online for $40 per bottle.
