Oxford Rye Wheels Out Batch #2
The Oxford Artisan Distillery has issued their Oxford Rye Whisky Batch #2.
Oxford Rye Whisky Batch #2 was aged in both virgin American oak casks and vintage Port casks, bottled at 47.4% alcohol by volume [94.8 proof] and is said to contain notes of banana, butterscotch, leather and tobacco.
For Oxford Rye Whisky Batch #2, the Oxford Artisan Distillery – which claims to be the only distillery in England to use populations of ancient heritage grains grown using sustainable methods – used a grain ratio that consisted of 90% maslin (a mix of 70% rye and 20% wheat from populations grown together in the same field); and 10% heritage malted barley, harvested in summer 2017, and the grain was flattened, not milled, in a traditional 1920s-era mill.
Only 973 bottles of Oxford Rye Whisky Batch #2 are being made available in the UK for $130 per bottle.
