Loch Lomond Unveils Original Series
Highland-based Loch Lomond distillery has released The Original Series – a trio of single malt whiskies using a combination of straight neck stills and traditional swan neck stills amongst a variety range of cask finishes.
The Loch Lomond The Original Series trio consists of Loch Lomond The Original Triple Oak, Loch Lomond Oloroso Sherry Cask and Loch Lomond Peated Rioja Cask. Each of the three whiskies has been bottled at 40% alcohol by volume [80 proof].
Although Loch Lomond The Original Triple Oak is not a new entry in the series, the non-age-statement whisky has been provided a new packaging look and was matured in three types of American oak casks – first-fill, refill and re-charred – and is being made available for $37 per 700ml bottle via the official website [www.lochlomondwhiskies.com].
Loch Lomond Oloroso Sherry Cask was distilled in straight neck stills, finished for six months in Oloroso sherry casks and is said to offer notes of brown sugar, raisins and vanilla.
Loch Lomond Peated Rioja Cask was distilled in a combination of swan neck and straight neck stills, finished for six months in Spanish Rioja wine casks and is said to offer notes of dark chocolate, honey, peach and pear.
Loch Lomond Oloroso Sherry Cask and Loch Lomond Peated Rioja Cask are being made available for $42 per 700ml bottle via the distillery’s aforementioned official website.
