The Glendronach Releases 56-Year-Old
Highland-based The Glendronach Distillery has released a 56-year-old single malt whisky – their oldest release ever – to celebrate the distillery’s 200th anniversary.
The Glendronach Aged 56 Years has been matured in a trio of Oloroso sherry butts from Jerez along with another trio of Spanish oak hogsheads from Pedro Ximenez, bottled at 44.9% alcohol by volume [89.8 proof] and is said to offer notes of blackberry, black cherry, dark cacao and mandarin orange.
Alas, only 200 hand-numbered Glencairn crystal decanters of The Glendronach Aged 56 Years are being made available next month for the bargain price of $46,760 per decanter.
