Lochlea Plans To Stick Around With Permanent Lineup
UK-based independent distillery Lochlea has released Single Estate Range – their first-ever permanent whisky lineup – consisting of Orchard & Oak, Dark Briar and Smoke Without Fire. All three whiskies are made from 100% barley grown on Lochlea Farm, and matured and blended onsite at the distillery.
Lochlea Orchard & Oak was matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon, virgin American oak, and Calvados casks and is said to contain notes of caramel, green apple and cut grass.
Lochlea Dark Briar was matured in Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso sherry and Port casks and is said to contain notes of caramel, red berries and vanilla.
Lochlea Smoke Without Fire was matured in a combination of ex-peated refill bourbon barrels and red wine casks and is said to contain notes of cherry blossom and bonfire smoke.
All three whiskies have been bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and are being made available in the UK and more than 30 global markets for $65 per 700ml bottle.
