Milk and Honey Puts Israel on Whisky Map
This is not Scotland and surely not Speyside. This is Tel-Aviv, one of the Middle Eastern nations, known for war and not whisky. Yet, this tiny nation does have a few whisky distilleries. One of them, Milk and Honey, won the award for the Best Single Malt Whisky in the World, by The World Drinks Awards.
In April 2023, one of Milk and Honey’s whiskies, Element Sherry Cask, was selected from among 6,000 other whiskies from more than 40 nations, including Scotland, the US, and England.
In 2013, a group of businessmen led by Gal Kalkshtein created the first Israeli distillery, known as Milk and Honey or M&H Whisky Distillery. The distillery is small and only produces 250,000 liters of whisky per year.
M&H Whisky Distillery describes its Elements whisky with the pride of a winner: “The M&H Elements series is a composition of flavors and aromas assembled from meticulously selected casks that bring forward characters enhanced by the casks’ wood, origin, and history. “
