OurWhisky Foundation Brindish New Whisky
The OurWhisky Foundation introduces Atonia’s Legacy: The Sarah Burgess Edition, the foundation’s first whisky made for its auction collection. It is a blended malt Scotch whisky celebrating the foundation’s mentorship program.
There will only be one glass bottle created, which will be auctioned off as part of the Demeter Collection. Sarah Burgess, whisky maker at The Lakes Distillery and mentor for the OurWhisky Foundation, says:
“I’m excited to work with the OurWhisky Foundation for its first Atonia’s Legacy release.
“Leaning on the whiskies selected by mentees I chose some older stocks for a leathery sense of age, which reflects the journey of maturity and growth that happens to people through the mentorship program, alongside whiskies with a fresh sweetness and subtle smoke.”
OurWhisky Foundation Rolls Out First Atonia’s Legacy Whisky Release
Featuring a blend of Scottish whiskies, the bottle presents “red apples, peaches, and toasted marshmallows with polished oak, black cherries, and dark chocolate in a Kirsty Nicholson crystal decanter and case.”
Kirsty Nicholson added: “Atonia means ‘strong as oak’ in Hebrew so we wanted to create a simple, oak tree design in a circular format for the emblem.
“It has five main branches signifying the different attributes of the OurWhisky Foundation’s mentees – wisdom, strength, resilience, endurance, and growth.”
Helen Abbott, the cask and services specialist at Aceo in Dandaleith, was responsible for handing out bottles of Atonia’s Legacy. She specifically ensured that Atonia’s Legacy would be handled and served only by women.
Becky Paskin, founder of the OurWhisky Foundation, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Sarah Burgess and Glencairn Crystal for the OurWhisky Foundation’s first whisky release.
“This is a historic moment for a serious collector to pick up something truly special from the Demeter Collection.”
Founded in 2005, the OurWhisky Foundation recognizes, supports, and empowers women working in the whisky industry around the world, while advocating for greater inclusivity.
