Pernod Ricard Debuts Mary Dowling Whisky
The latest whisky partnership will have Pernod Ricard distributing Mary Dowling Whisky. The agreement rolled out the first batch of a new bourbon product range.
Mary Dowling is one of the few females who have dominated the normally male-orchestrated industry. Commonly known as the ‘queen of bourbon’ the distillery produces two popular whisky brands that will debut in the agreement with Pernod Ricard.
According to details of the deal, two whiskies will feature in the Mary Dowling Whiskey Company line-up:
- The Tequila Barrel: This is one of the first whisky ever produced by the company and is defined as a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey finished in tequila barrels. The spirit features unique fruit flavors and earthy, smoky tones, added to a black-peppery finish
- The Double Oak Barrel: It is said that the former secretary of state, James Baker, declared Mary Dowling the ‘mother of bourbon’ after stating this Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. The beverage is presented at double oak cask strength, including upper flavors in its essence and a high ABV with a soft finish.
Nonetheless, the joint venture is being conducted through Rabbit Hole Distillery which is partly owned by Pernod Ricard. The French giant and Zamanian’s collaboration dates back to 2019 when it acquired a majority stake in the Kentucky distillery.
Rabbit Hole founder Kaveh Zamanian said: “Long obscured by the mists of time, Mary Dowling’s story is one of the most motivational and compelling in the annals of whiskey-making. We wanted to create a whiskey to honor her extraordinary character and celebrate her legacy and her iconic distillery, Waterfill & Frazier. We are excited to finally share two original expressions, which are meant to be savored while toasting to the unstoppable spirit of Mary Dowling.”
The whisky community is always happy to see new spirits entering its market and will soon be adding the Mary Dowling Whisky line-up to its whisky library.
