Sazerac Brings Out The Cognac
Sazerac Company has released a trio of small batch Sazerac de Forge & Fils Cognac – XO, Grande Champagne Vintage 2000 and a 50-year-old Cognac.
Sazerac’s Cognac is linked to the legacy of the 1782 domaine founded by Bernard Sazerac de Forge which originally shipped cognac to America and help create the Sazerac cocktail in New Orleans.
Sazerac de Forge XO was matured for more than 20 years in French oak barrels, bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof] and is said to contain notes of dried fruits and spice.
Sazerac de Forge XO is being made available for $150 per bottle.
Sazerac de Forge Grande Champagne Vintage 2000 was bottled at 44.8% alcohol by volume [89.6 proof], is said to contain notes of floral, fruit and spice and is being made available for $450 per bottle.
Sazerac de Forge 50-year-old is a blend of three vintage eaux-de-vie distilled in 1970, 1971, and 1974, matured for 50 years in French oak barrels, bottled at 43% alcohol by volume [86 proof], is said to contain notes of dates, figs, and dates and macadamia nuts.
Sazerac de Forge 50 is being made available for $4000 per decanter.
