Virginia Distillery Splits Barrels
Virginia Distillery has debuted their Split Barrel Project – a new series with the first release combining Kentucky straight bourbon with American single malt (ASM).
Virginia Distillery Split Barrel Project #1 is a 50:50 mix of bourbon and ASM, with the bourbon part of that marriage coming from Kentucky’s Bardstown Bourbon Company.
Virginia Distillery Split Barrel Project #1 carries a mash bill of 75% corn, 15% rye, and 10% malted barley, with the ASM being aged for four years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 45% alcohol by volume [90 proof] and is said to offer notes of caramel, chocolate and vanilla.
Virginia Distillery Split Barrel Project #1 is being made available in limited quantities via Virginia Distillery’s official website for $45 per bottle.
