Writers’ Tears Reveals Their Cask Strength
Carlow, Ireland-based Walsh Whiskey Distillery has released Writers’ Tears Cask Strength Irish whiskey.
Writers’ Tears Cask Strength blends a single pot still with a single malt – both of which are triple distilled and matured in bourbon barrels – which is then bottled at 54.2% alcohol by volume [108.4 proof] and is said to contain notes of berries, ginger and, of course, the tears of writers.
Only 6,000 bottles of Writers’ Tears Cask Strength Irish whiskey are being made available – with 1,500 of those destined for the USA – and the rest being distributed in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Russia, UK and travel retail venues for $150 per 700ml bottle.
