Manly Afternoon Tea
I’ve always loved afternoon tea – a classic selection of cakes and sandwiches, served with a cup of freshly brewed tea – but come to think of it, I suppose it is a bit of a ‘girly’ affair. Mini muffins, finger sandwiches, nothing that requires more than one bite and 3 chews to have done with, served with pretty little flowers crumbled up and soaked in hot water. Doesn’t sound like something a lumberjack would opt for, does it? Well, luckily, there is now a manternative.
Cameron House is a hotel/spa/restaurant/you name it located by the lovely Loch Lomond. In cooperation with Glengoyne, they’ve decided to create a rather manlier alternative to the traditional afternoon tea, consisting of rare roast beef, haggis sausage rolls, smoked salmon rolls, black pudding scotch eggs, mini Aberdeen angus beef burgers, arran mustard sandwiches, Glengoyne whisky cake and, of course, a glass of Glengoyne. Sounds a bit manlier, doesn’t it? I can feel my chest hair growing thicker just thinking about it.
Priced at $40 per head it’s not the cheapest I’ve come across, but supposing the quality of their image lives up to that of their marketing materials, I’m sure it would be worth trying, and when I’m next in that neck of the woods I most certainly will. My man-gene has officially been tickled.
