WhistlePig Introduces Double Malt Rye Whiskey

Vermont-based WhistlePig has released their Double Malt Rye – “double” because it uses a mash bill with both malted rye and malted barley – which also happens to be their oldest whiskey yet at the ripe old age of 18 years.

WhistlePig Double Malt Rye Aged 18 Years, was created using a ‘double malt’ mash bill [which involved malting a small portion of rye] and then distilling with a mash bill of 79% rye, 15% malted rye, and 6% malted barley, before bottling it at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof].

A “limited allocation” of WhistlePig Double Malt Rye Aged 18 Years will be released annually for $400 per bottle.
