Lavagulin And Caol Ila Each Introduce Festival Whiskies
Both Islay distilleries Caol Ila and Lavagulin have released whiskies in honor of the 2020 version of the Fèis Ìle whisky festival which was cancelled in person and replaced with an online version due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Lagavulin 20 Years Old Fèis Ìle 2020 was aged in refill and Oloroso-treated hogsheads, then bottled at 54% alcohol by volume [108 proof] and is said to contain notes of cake mix, digestive biscuits, linseed oil and eucalyptus.
Only 6,000 bottles of Lagavulin 20 Years Old Fèis Ìle 2020 are being made available for $240 per bottle.
Caol Ila 16 Years Old Fèis Ìle 2020 was matured in refill and Amoroso-treated hogsheads, then bottled at 53.9% alcohol by volume [107.8 proof] and is said to contain notes of fruit, ginger and smoke.
Only 3,000 bottles of Caol Ila 16 Years Old Fèis Ìle 2020 are being made available for $150 per bottle.
Both whiskies will be available online at shop.discoveringdistilleries.com. Purchases will be limited to two bottles per customer.
Both Lagavulin and Caol Ila will donate a signed bottle of each whisky to the 2020 Fèis Ìle Committee, who will use funds from their sale to assist Islay-based charitable organizations and community groups.
