Loch Lomond Reveals Golf-Themed Whiskies
The Loch Lomond Group has released two single malts to commemorate The Open golf competition’s 150th anniversary in 2022 – The Open Course Edition 2022 and The Open Special Edition 2022. This year’s Open championship will be held on The Old Course in St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland, on July 14-17, 2022.
The Loch Lomond Open Special Edition 2022 was created in partnership with golfer Colin Montgomerie, matured in American oak casks before being finished in Bordeaux red wine barriques, then bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to contain notes of fudge, honey, lime, peach and strawberry.
The Loch Lomond Open Course Edition 2022 was matured in American oak casks and finished in Haut-Médoc claret barriques for three years, bottled at 48.2% alcohol by volume [96.4 proof] and is said to contain notes of apple, black cherry, dark chocolate, ginger, pear and vanilla.
Both Loch Lomond Open single malt whiskies are being made available via the Loch Lomond website with The Loch Lomond Open Special Edition going for $55 per bottle and the Loch Lomond Open Course Edition going for $280 per bottle.
