Whisky Hammer Hails 100th Auction With $10,000 in Rewards
Online whisky auction platform, Whisky Hammer, is celebrating its 100th auction and is rewarding both bidders and auctioneers with enticing perks. The company has reached its centennial landmark after only eight years of operation. The auction will go live on Friday, March 15 with a list of perks to express their gratitude to clients.
The auction site was founded by brothers Daniel and Craig Milne eight years ago, and it has sold more than 155,000 lots worth £60 million for private sellers since then. It attracts bids from 88 countries across the world each month
There has now been a rise in the business of buying and selling rare and collectible whisky on Whisky Hammer, including a historic million-pound Macallan cask that lay forgotten for over 30 years.
Whisky Hammer Celebrates its 100th Auction Whisky Launch
The Macallan sold for $1,295,500, beating the previous auction record for a cask of $572,000 which was held by Bonhams. Other high-profile bottles sold by Whisky Hammer include the 55-year-old Yamazaki which brought £380,000.
For the 100th auction on Monday, March 11, sellers can submit interesting, unique, or rare bottles and receive a one-time incentive. Instead of the usual 5 percent commission, sellers will earn an additional 1 percent. Upon reaching its 100th auction, Whisky Hammer will bottle a limited-edition whisky – with only 100 bottles available for bidding. Each bottle will have a unique hand-numbered label.
Managing director Daniel Milne, co-founder and co-founder of Whisky Hammer and Still Spirit, said: “Our passion for whisky began from day one, and we have been securing rare and hard-to-find whiskeys for our buyers since then.”.
“Thanks to our global buyer and seller customer base, we’ve been lucky enough to represent some true unicorns of the whisky world in our monthly auctions, and are so proud of what we have achieved from our very first auction to us now marking our 100th.
“Bringing together whisky lovers across the globe has been a real highlight for us and we feel the 100th auction is a great milestone to give back a big “thank you” to our loyal buyers and sellers with the planned March auction perks. Here’s to the next eight years!”
