Bruichladdich Goes Old Skool
Islay-based distillery Bruichladdich is going old school with the release of Old Skool – a 10-year-old single malt whisky commemorating the moment in 2001 when the Bruichladdich distillery was reborn and features a 1980s vibe label from the previous Bruichladdich’s heyday.
Bruichladdich Old Skool was distilled using 100% Islay-grown barley – which was first tested by the distillery back in 2004 – with all barley being grown within a nine-mile radius of the distillery, matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels along with a brief stint in first-fill Sauternes casks, bottled at 50% alcohol by volume [100 proof] and is said to impart notes of apricot, citrus, coconut, ginger, nectarine and red plum.
Bruichladdich Old Skool is being made available for $80 per bottle via the official website [bruichladdich.com] and in selected retail venues.
