The Dalmore Bolsters Cask Curation Series With Madeira

Highland-based The Dalmore Distillery has released The Dalmore Cask Curation Series Madeira Cask Edition – the fourth and final release in The Dalmore’s Cask Curation Series.

The Dalmore’s Madeira Cask Edition was created using casks of Madeira originating from the Portuguese island of the same name and emphasizes three styles of Madeira in three single malts aged for 30, 34 and 45 years in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels [each finished in a different Madeira pipe].

The 30-year-old was bottled at 49.3% alcohol by volume [98.6 proof], was finished for eight months in a 2010 Terrantez Madeira pipe and is said to produce notes of citrus, hazelnut and orange.

The 34-year-old was bottled at 44.5% alcohol by volume [89 proof], finished in a 2018 Bual Madeira pipe, again for eight months and is said to produce notes of figs, peach and toffee.

The 45-year-old was bottled at 40.7% alcohol by volume [81.4 proof], finished for three months in a 2012 Malvasia Madeira pipe and is said to produce notes of chocolate, ginger and walnut.

Only 150 sets of The Dalmore Cask Curation Series, Madeira Cask Edition are being made available for $47,000 per set with an accompanying luggage carrier from Italian luggage makers AB Florence.
