Annandale distillery set to reopen
Imagine falling asleep for 91 years, 91, and waking up in 2010 – how different the world would be to the one you had known. The buildings, transport, clothing, social structure, technology and, perhaps most importantly, tastes would all be completely different to what you had once known. Life as you knew it would be forever lost, and finding your place in this new world probably prove difficult, time-consuming and expensive.
This may sound like an unlikely scenario, especially if you were 89 years old when you fell asleep. But such is the case for the Annandale distillery, which the BBC reported a few weeks ago is set to reopen. Quite exciting news, seeing as there are only a handful of lowland distilleries currently in operation. A new addition to this exclusive list will be most welcome, and I for one look forward to seeing, smelling and particularly tasting this old sleepy – fingers crossed it will survive the acclimatization to a new, bolder, world.
