Boann Travels Across The Pond
Irish whiskey distillery Boann has traveled across the pond to the USA with the release of their core range trio of single pot still whiskies- albeit in only 10 states – California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, New York, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. The three whiskies were finished in a different fortified wine cask: Marsala, Madeira and Pedro Ximénez (PX).
The Marsala Cask Finish was initially matured for three years in heavily charred ex-bourbon barrels sourced from Kentucky, then endured a final maturation in French oak and Marsala casks from Sicily.
The Madeira Cask Finish was initially aged in charred ex-bourbon barrels, followed by a period in vintage Madeira casks.
The Pedro Ximénez Cask Finish was matured for three and a half years in Oloroso sherry hogsheads from Spain, before being finished in vintage PX solera chestnut and oak casks from Malaga.
The three whiskies involved in the release are each bottled at 47% alcohol by volume [94 proof] and are each being made available for $70 per 700ml bottle.
