Buffalo Trace Unveils 2018 Antiques
Buffalo Trace has unveiled the five whiskies that will comprise this year’s Antique Collection [whiskies bottled from rare stocks at the Buffalo Trace Distillery].
The 2018 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection will consist of a 2003 George T. Stagg, bottled at 62.45% alcohol by volume [124.9 proof] and is said to contain notes of dark chocolate, espresso and tobacco; a 2006 William Larue Weller, a wheated Bourbon bottled at 62.85% alcohol by volume [125.7 proof] that is said to contain notes of fig and vanilla; a Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye bottled at 64.4% alcohol by volume [128.8 proof] that is said to contain notes of allspice and clove; an Eagle Rare 17 Year Old bottled at 50.5% alcohol by volume [101 proof] – honoring the original strength used when the brand first launched in 1974 – with notes said to be butterscotch, coffee and spearmint and Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old bottled at 45% alcohol by volume [90 proof] said to contain notes of cinnamon, dark chocolate and tobacco.
The 2018 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection whiskies will be available in limited quantities through October 2018 for $99 per bottle.
