Colonel EH Taylor Revives Pair Of Bourbons
Buffalo Trace Distillery has revived Four Grain and Cured Oak – a pair of bourbons from their Colonel EH Taylor, Jr. series – with Four Grain due to become an annual limited release while Cured Oak is being slotted in as an occasional release.
Colonel EH Taylor, Jr. Four Grain Bourbon is a small-batch bourbon which made its original debut in 2017 and is bottled at 50% alcohol by volume [100 proof] with a mashbill consisting of corn, rye, wheat and malted barley – the aforementioned four grains, although the new revival bourbon has been matured for 10 years and is said to contain notes of caramel, chocolate and vanilla.
Colonel EH Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak Bourbon first appeared on the scene in 2015 and is bottled-in-bold at 50% alcohol by volume [100 proof] after having spent time in barrels made from white oak staves that have been cure-dried for 13 months – twice as long as the industry standard – and is said to result in notes of tobacco, toffee and vanilla.
Both Colonel EH Taylor, Jr. Four Grain and Cured Oak are being made available for $80 per 750ml bottle at select venues in the USA.
