Diageo Rolls Out Orphan Barrel
UK-based Diageo – the world’s largest producer of spirits – has decided to vigorously enter the North American craft whiskey market by creating their Orphan Barrel Distillery and introducing the new distillery’s first two products, 20-year-old Barterhouse Whiskey and 27-year-old Old Blowhard whiskey. Both whiskey stocks were discovered in a Diageo-owned facility in Louisville, Kentucky, and each will enjoy a limited release. The new whiskies will be bottled at the Orphan Barrel Distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
Both Barterhouse Whiskey and Old Blowhard Whiskey will be available in March 2014 – Barterhouse for $75 and Old Blowhard for $150 per 750ml bottle.
