‘Dota 2’ Hits 10th Anniversary With Special Ballantine’s Whisky
In celebration of ten years of service, Dota 2 has partnered with Scotch whisky distillery Ballentine’s. The parties have launched two limited editions of Ballentine’s expressions dubbed Ballentine’s Fines x Dota 2.
The collaboration has gone beyond just whisky. Dota 3 has produced a short film featuring five of its most[popular characters. These include Brewmaster, Juggernaut, Lina, Marci, and Monkey King. The characters are sent on a quest to discover ab secure a dram of Ballantine’s.
Although Ballentine’s is an internationally renowned brand, the limited edition whiskies are exclusive to the Chinese market. At the same time, Mathieu Deslandes, global marketing director of Ballantine’s at Chivas Brothers, detailed the brand’s purposes in a press release.
“Ballantine’s has a storied history of collaborating with the unexpected, especially partners who have stayed true to their original vision.
“Dota 2 is a globally iconic game, with a particularly big influence within China’s gaming community, so it was a no-brainer for us to work together during this historic year for the game.”
The Ballentine’s Whisky Collaborations
The brand has collaborated with other entities to create limited-edition whiskies. At the beginning of October, Ballentine’s teamed up with AC/DC to release a special edition dubbed ‘True Music Icons Collection’. The collection honors the finest music artists in the world.
Another interesting partnership was with Borderlands 3. The distillery elected Mad Moxxi as its chief galactic expansion officer (CGEO). The bottles were created with token codes that players could redeem for in-game gifts. The codes enabled players to further customize their characters.
The brand will continue to sponsor teams and work with other groups or games when it deems necessary. Earlier this year, Ballentine’s became the spirits partner for the Liverpool FC defender Virgil Van Dijk’s esports team. Tundra was the defending champion at The Dota International 2023.
