Glen Moray Adds Two New Spirits to its Warehouse Portfolio
Two new whiskies have been launched by Glen Moray Distillery in Speyside as part of its Warehouse 1 Collection. The distillery has introduced two limited edition small-batch expressions that explore the influence of Rioja wine casks on whisky.
Approximately five years ago, Glen Moray pioneered the use of Spanish wine casks in its earliest experiments. The procedures culminated in the release of the 2012 Peated Rioja Finish and the 2015 Rioja Matured.
“The whiskies of our Warehouse 1 Collection are among some of our most intriguing and experimental single malts. And these two limited editions aged in Rioja red wine casks are sure to appeal to inquisitive whisky enthusiasts,” said Iain Allan, brand ambassador of Glen Moray.

“Deep and fruity, with notes of cherries, plums, and leather. Glen Moray Rioja Matured is a dram as rich as it is rare. With its gentle smoke and plummy tastes, Glen Moray Peated Rioja Finish is a fascinatingly different take on Glen Moray.”
Notably, the Glen Moray 2015 Rioja Matured is an eight-year-old expression bottled at 59.8% ABV. The Glen Moray 2012 Peated Rioja Finish is an 11-year-old expression built from lightly peated barley and finished in wine casks.
The distillery has produced many variants of its special flavored whiskies. Among them are single malts finished in Amarone, Amontillado, Barolo, Tokaji, Manzanilla, and Sauternes casks. The new spirits will be available in the UK, France, the US, the Netherlands, Japan, and Sweden, and from the Glen Moray distillery.
In addition, The Glen Moray Classic is the distillery’s entry-level single malt; aged primarily in ex-bourbon casks, with a high percentage of first fills to make it easy to drink.
According to Forbes, Glen Moray is the best single malt.
“The Best Scotch Single Malt, as well as the Best Scotch Speyside, is Glen Moray, Phoenix Rising, No Age Statement, 40% ABV. The Glen Moray is a classic Speyside expression featuring notes of ripe orchard fruit deftly blended with wood spice and caramel.”
