Halcyon Spirits Rolls Out Macallan 30 Year Old
They are Scotland’s newest whisky bottlers and might have just scored the biggest deal yet. Halcyon Spirits has just launched a single cask Macallan 30 Year Old.
According to the distillery based in Aberdeenshire, the new brand comes from brothers Daniel and Craig Milne, who also co-founded the global auction platform Whisky Hammer and the whisky e-retailer Still Spirit.
As everyone is hoping onto the environment-saving train, the new whisky bottlers will not be left behind. Halcyon Spirits has an ambitious plan to plant 10 trees for every bottle sold. That could mean 2,380 trees being planted in the brand’s effort to tackle climate change. The whisky was bottled on-site at 49.8% ABV, with a suggested price of £2,950 per bottle. In all, only 238 bottles are available online through the Halcyon Spirits website.
The brothers Milne celebrated the construction of new cask warehousing by launching the Macallan 30 Year Old whisky. The new warehouse was created to expand storage capacity and will store more than 2,000 casks. According to the press release, the project focussed on helping and ensuring better security and curing for whisky from the most renowned distilleries.
The release further stated that it was a dream come true for the brothers. “Launching Halcyon Spirits has been a true passion project for my brother Craig and I. As whisky fanatics ourselves, our goal is to be able to find and share incredible whiskies with others,” Daniel Milne said.
As the demand for whisky outperforms the production capacity for even the largest distilleries, master distillers are turning to whisky bottlers as part of the solution. With a shortage of supply for whisky prevalent in Asian and Australian markets, Scotland entrepreneurs are creating more ambassadors to hasten the production process.
Companies such as Halcyon will take their place alongside the whisky giants as they find a way to increase supplies.
