Ireland Closes Down Pubs Ahead Of St. Patrick’s Day Due To Coronavirus
In an effort to control the spread of the coronavirus, Ireland has shut down pubs and bars ahead of this week’s celebration of St. Patrick’s Day [Tuesday, March 17, 2020]. In addition, the Irish government has also banned mass gatherings in the country.
The Republic of Ireland has reported a total of 169 cases of coronavirus – 40 new cases this past weekend – along with two reported deaths.
The current pub closure is to be in effect until March 29, 2020 – when a review of the situation will determine the next steps.
