Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra Unveils With History
In partnership with the London Design Festival, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra will be revealed at this year’s festival. The spirit’s container is described as the world’s lightest 700ml Scotch whisky glass bottle.
In addition, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra has also partnered with Marshmallow Laser Feast. The studio will create a Landmark Project installation at the Old Selfridges Hotel in Marylebone.
According to a press release, Johnnie Walker’s master blender, Dr. Emma Walker, developed a new expression, Ultra, for 2025. It will be limited to 888 bottles and contains liquids from distilleries like Oban and Brora, along with a variety of ghost whiskies from defunct distilleries.
Johnnie Walker to Release Lightest Whisky Bottle
Johnnie Walker Ultra is a limited edition bottle weighing 180g without its closure, beating out the previous holder by 118 grams. The Ultra bottle uses a teardrop shape, which means reforming the square Johnnie Walker bottle.
Jennifer English, the brand’s global brand ambassador said:
“Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ultra is a truly progressive stride forward for Johnnie Walker, Diageo, and the industry. We didn’t know what we were going to be able to achieve when we set out to push the boundaries of luxury, and the result is something that many said would not be possible.
“This new, lightweight bottle is a thing of exquisite beauty; but more importantly, it demonstrates what is possible when it comes to light-weighting glass. We will continue applying what we have learned across our range, taking more progressive strides as we look to the future of Scotch.”
According to Dr. Emma Walker, This bottle represents the future of luxury, lightweight, low-carbon bottles. Johnnie Walker seeks to reduce the weight of glass in their packaging to reduce their carbon emissions. The project is part of the Diageo Spirit of Progress plan established to reduce fossil fuel dependence..
