Ki One – Korea Debuts First Single Malt Whiky in UK
Whisky enthusiasts across the UK will wet their palettes for the first in a Korean single malt whisky. Spearheaded by the Pernod Ricard-owned The Whisky Exchange, Korea’s first single malt whisky, Ki One, will hit the UK drinks market. The spirit will retail exclusively by the retail starting August 1.
“We’re always on the lookout for up-and-coming distilleries from all over the world, so when we had the opportunity to launch Ki One in the UK, we jumped at it,” said Dawn Davies, buying director of The Whisky Exchange.
“This distillery is one to watch in the coming years, with big ambitions and great potential. It’s exciting to continue to see more quality whiskies coming out of Asia, and to be such an integral part in the story of Korea’s first single malt journey is something we’re really proud of.”
Ki One Single Malt Whisky Hits UK Market
Despite its relatively young age, Three Societies Distillery produces a spirited and refined whisky. Although the temperature ranges from 30°C in the summer to -20°C in winter, conditioning process makes a difference.
In its inaugural release, the distillery’s Ki One, aged in virgin American oak casks, has a rich and chocolatey character with spicy notes that offer a complex and multilayered palate.
“Ki One is a rich and rounded whisky with well-integrated spiciness, loads of creamy toffee and chocolate on top of orchard fruit, and a touch of cherry,” described Billy Abbott, whisky ambassador at The Whisky Exchange.
In addition, the Korean single malt whisky Ki One is bottled at 46% ABV in a 700ml bottle and is exclusively available at The Whisky Exchange. Three Societies, founded by Bryan Do and Andrew Shand in 2020, is Korea’s first whisky distillery.
Since 1999, The Whisky Exchange has been delivering spirits to whisky enthusiasts and connoisseurs, including Japan’s Yamazaki, Taiwan’s Kavalan, and India’s Amrut. It has also helped launch Chinese single malt whiskies in the UK market.
