NBC Joins Fox In Hopping On Bourbon TV Drama Bandwagon
Days after Fox announced they were developing an as-yet-untitled television drama series project based on the Kentucky bourbon industry, NBC jumped on the bourbon bandwagon with their own television drama series, but they did Fox one better and gave theirs a title – “The Bourbon Kings”. While Fox’s potential – a pilot episode has yet to be shot and the concept has yet to be greenlit – series will be about a Kentucky bourbon patriarch who goes off the deep end and causes both external as well as internal drama, the NBC series is based on the book of the same name by author J.R. Ward and will be more of a late-night soap opera in the vein of “Dallas” and “Dynasty” about Kentucky bourbon empire substituting for the oil empire and all the pitfalls that come with it.
Pilot episodes for either series are not expected to air until 2016.
