Popcorn Sutton Debuts New Non-JD-Looking Label
Popcorn Sutton white whiskey used to be contained in a bottle with a label that looked an awfully lot like another popular Tennessee whiskey named Jack Daniel’s – and that’s what the Jack Daniel’s owners thought too – so they sued them back in 2013. The result? Popcorn Sutton debuted their new bottle and label this week and it does not look anything like the Jack Daniel’s bottle and label. The new Popcorn Sutton bottle is clear and rounded – not darkened and squared off like the previous bottle – and the label is stylized differently to more accurately reflect the moonshine roots of its namesake.
Popcorn Sutton sold their “Tennessee white whiskey” in Mason jars in 2014 while they worked on a settlement with Brown-Forman – the owners of Jack Daniel’s – before coming up with the new bottle shape this year.
