OurWhisky Foundation Is Education Partner of BCB
At this year’s BCB Global Trade Show, OurWhisky was named the ‘Spirit of Honour’ for 2024. A special education area was dedicated to the spirit.
It features seminars and masterclasses by the OurWhisky Foundation, which was founded in 2022 by journalist Becky Paskin. The OurWhisky Foundation supports, recognizes, and empowers women who work in the global whisky industry.
“We see whisky is enjoying ever-increasing popularity – both in retail and in bars,” said BCB director Petra Lassahn. “This spirit has reinvented itself, become more modern, and is currently very trendy. And this is what we want to mirror at BCB with a dedicated area.”
OurWhisky Foundation to Work With BCB Whisky Embassy Program
A comprehensive Whisky Embassy program will focus on the production processes of whisky. It investigates the diverse tastes and origins of the spirit while providing continuous education ‘at the highest level’.
Paskin said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to play an active part in BCB. And to be able to use this great platform. It will draw attention to our organization and to the subject of whisky.
“We hope to welcome all BCB visitors to our education area to enhance their education and experience of this wonderful spirit and ignite their love of whisky.”
Featured on all major streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon, Paskin discussed the development of gender equality in whisky in episode six of The Spirits Business Podcast.
According to a press release, BCB, the international bar and beverage trade show that will be held in October, will be partnering with the OWF as its education partner: The OWF is a non-profit organization based in the UK that supports women in the whisky industry through initiatives such as its mentorship program.
