Rampur Distillery Rolls Out New Indian whisky
The Rampur Distillery has launched its latest Indian single malt whisky. Dubbed Rampur Barrel Blush, it is now available in the UK. The spirit is matured in American Bourbon barrels and finished in Australian Shiraz casks.
Rampur Barrel Blush will then be released in Europe and the US later this month, the distillery has said.
Founded in 1943, Radico Khaitan is the country’s largest beverage alcohol company and one of the oldest whisky distilleries. Three of its three distilleries are located at the base of the Himalayas. This is where Rampur’s whisky is distilled, matured, and bottled.

According to Sanjeev Banga, CEO of Rampur Distillery, the company aims to spread its brands worldwide. The company’s brands are already available in 102 markets worldwide.
He said in an interview: “A beginning has already been made in ensuring that all fine dining Indian restaurants across the globe carry Indian brands. Similarly, Indians are now one of the most active travellers and shoppers and we aim that all airport duty-free shops should give the rightful shelf space to Indian luxury brands.”
For the launch of Rampur Barrel Blush Banga said that “as the whisky market continues to evolve”, Rampur’s latest release “offers us the opportunity to present our craftsmanship to whisky enthusiasts worldwide”.
Kunal Madan, vice president of international business at Radico Khaitan, said the distillery has experimented with “unique maturation techniques to create a whisky that authentically reflects our heritage”.
He added: “We have continued to push boundaries with the launch of Rampur Barrel Blush. The use of Australian Shiraz casks continues Rampur’s legacy of experimenting with different cask combinations and compliments Rampur’s characteristic of fruity and floral whisky.”
In 1972, Lalit Khaitan’s father, G. N. Khaitan, bought the Rampur Distillery from Vishnu Hari Dalmia for Rs. 1.6 million. Prior to the purchase, Lalit Khaitan had never had alcohol.
