Suntory Distillery Rolls Out Hibiki Whisky
Japanese whisky distillery House of Suntory launched two new Hibiki whiskies as it celebrates its centenary. As part of its special collection, the distillery has been creating sports in homage to 100 years of fine whisky.
Suntory announces the release of its Hibiki 21-Year-Old and Hibiki Japanese Harmony in a limited edition bottle design. These spirits mark the distillery’s anniversary of a century since Shinjiro Torii founded it in 1923.
This limited-edition whiskey is a blend of malt whisky and grain whisky.
Master distiller of Suntory, Shinji Fukuyo, said: “For the limited-edition Hibiki 21-Year-Old, our team took on the challenge of crafting a new blend to celebrate our centennial.”
From October, Hibiki 21-Year-Old will be available from select retailers, including Harrods, Harvey Nichols, and The Whisky Shop, for £5,200.
History of Suntory Whisky
The Hibiki Japanese Harmony’s bottle design is inspired by the art of Monozukuri craftsmanship, and the packaging features motifs representing Japan’s changing seasons. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is bottled at 43% abv and available in October for a suggested retail price of $200.
Suntory is home to world-class spirits crafted with Japanese craft, inspired by Japanese nature. The company offers premium brands Yamazaki, Hakushu, Chita, and Hibiki, in addition to Suntory Whisky Toki, Roku Gin, and Haku Vodka.
Founded in 1899, Suntory Holdings is a Japanese multinational brewing and distilling company. It is a pioneer in the distribution of alcoholic beverages in Japan and makes Japanese whisky.
As a result of Torii’s efforts, Japan’s first single malt whisky distillery, Yamazaki Distillery, was built in 1923, and production began in December 1924, five years after Suntory Whisky Shirofuda (White Label), the first single malt whisky to be made in Japan, became a success.
Even as the House of Suntory celebrates it has expanded its business to include soft drinks, and sandwich food chains, among other investments. The company is one of the largest in the world.
