Tequila And Whiskey Meet In A Bottle Of JJ Corry The Battalion
Chapel Gate has released JJ Corry the Battalion, an Irish whiskey blend finished in tequila and mezcal casks.
JJ Corry The Battalion began with nine-year-old grain whiskey aged in ex-Bourbon casks poured into mezcal and Tequila casks and malt whiskey from Bourbon barrels into mezcal casks, then – after maturing for seven months – a blend of grain whiskey matured in Tequila and mezcal casks was combined with the mezcal-influenced malt whiskey.
The finished product is JJ Corry The Battalion whiskey blend [60% nine-year-old grain whiskey and 40% 13-year-old malt whiskey] that was bottled at 41% alcohol by volume [82 proof] and is said to contain notes of agave.
The name is in honor of the Battalion San Patricos – a group of Irish men who fought for Mexico in the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848.
Only 700 bottles of JJ Corry The Battalion are being made available for $73 per 500ml bottle.
