The Whisky Aficionados’ Network Marks Historic Whisky Event
Whisky Aficionados’ Network, a monthly gathering for professionals who enjoy premium spirits, reached new heights on the night of October 24, at the Barclays campus in Glasgow’s Tradeston neighborhood.
This exclusive club has flourished over the past decade, now hosting up to 35 attendees at the club´s headquarters. The group meets at the home of WBG, a leading Scottish independent full-service accountancy firm.
An unprecedented 70 people attended the Saturday night event. The program savored exceptional whiskies while networking casually with fellow professionals from a variety of industries.
Dougal Barr, Global Brand Ambassador of Douglas Laing, a family-owned Scottish whisky business, led the evening’s proceedings. As in past years, each host represented a prominent entity in the whisky industry, such as a distiller, blender, or whisky society.

Guests enjoyed a six-dram tasting session hosted by the club, allowing them to explore a range of exceptional whiskies. The conversations covered the hours and guests ignored time while developing connections with other members.
Uniquely, the club offers professionals a unique platform to expand their connections while indulging in Scotland’s national spirit. Whisky Aficionados’ Network is also proving that business networking can be both productive and enjoyable.
Scott Grant, business development director at Wbg, said: “Like Wbg, 168 Whisky Club relishes its role of championing smaller, independent enterprises with ambition to scale their operations.
“The Club allows us to shine a light on our hosts’ unique whisky offerings while affording an opportunity for guests to discuss pressing business issues of the day among a congenial business and professional audience at an informal and mutually beneficial networking event.”
Furthermore, a range of Wbg’s specialist accountancy, audit, and tax advice were demonstrated at the event. Attendees included representatives from the company’s Aberdeen office, investment firm N4 Partners, and partners and clients from Barclays.
