The Whisky Indie Love Fest Reurns to Newcastle
Following a successful debut in 2022, The Whisky Indie Love Fest will open its second show. The Festival of independent spirits will roll out a new show on September 2, 2023.
Last September, The Whisky Indie Love Fest held its first show in Newcastle and was hailed a towering success. This followed after the media quoted popular brands as ‘satisfied with the program’ and more distilleries were vying for slots. The organizers of the program have done just that.
This year’s festival promises to host a double session and tickets are already on sale.
According to chief Organiser Karl Glenn, the program will explore independent whisky bottlers. Offering a chance to otherwise unknown entities. Glenn who is also the founder of the North East Whisky Appreciation Society said:
“The festival is perhaps the world’s largest of its kind focused entirely on independent bottlers,
“What’s unique is that ‘indies’ are leaders in innovating with spirits and not just whisky – they are passionate about creating amazing flavors, tending to release single cask or small malt whisky often at cask strength at very reasonable prices compared with most distillery bottlings.”
In addition, he explained the need for a double session. During the show, he hopes people will find comfort and chatter as they taste and acquire new flavors. Most whisky enthusiasts attend these tasting sessions to expand their whisky libraries and plethora.
Furthermore, Glenn reported high ticket sales with more than two weeks still before the show. The festival will be hosted at Anarchy Brewery’s taproom in Walkergate, Newcastle. It will showcase a wide array of whiskies such as Lady of the Glen, Chapter 7, Artful Dodger, and more.
Sessions will run from noon until 3:30 pm and then from 4:30 pm until 8 pm.
The festival will make leeway into the whisky community and soon become an annual event that they look forward to.
