White Peak Distillery Launches New Wire Works Whisky
The second Virgin Oak barrel expression from the Wire Works whisky brand to be aged in such a barrel has been released by White Peak Distillery.
The whisky is prepared with live brewer’s yeast, mildly peated malted barley, and a six-day fermentation period to give deep fruit overtones. It is bottled at 50.5% ABV. Lightly peated single malt whiskey that was first aged in first fill ex-bourbon barrels is finished for several months in the aforementioned virgin American oak barrels.

The first large-scale craft distillery in the Peak District is called White Peak Distillery. situated on the banks of the River Derwent near Ambergate’s Shining Cliff Woods. They are dedicated to developing a distinctive place and making genuine handmade spirits. The business focuses on producing whisky, gin, rum, and other spirits, and it accepts reservations for tours, gatherings, and tastings.
The distillery’s founder, Claire Vaughan, shared her satisfaction with the new addition to the special edition. She said.
“In our latest release, we’re giving whisky enthusiasts the opportunity to savor the unique flavors of our lightly-peated spirit and explore the journey our whisky has taken in new wood.
“Matured in Virgin Oak casks from the renowned Kelvin Cooperage, celebrated for exceptional quality, this is a development of the limited edition 2022 release. The selection of char levels in this vatting introduces a delightful range of flavors, from lighter toasted nuts, vanilla, and sweetness to the richer notes of caramel and toffee. This whisky is a perfect dram for the fireside.”
The expression is now on sale for £67 per 70cl at the distillery shop and from its business partners, including Master of Malt and The Whisky Exchange.
The Derbyshire-born husband and wife duo of Max & Claire Vaughan own and run White Peak Distillery. They built the distillery’s foundations and still manage a small staff to run it.
