Corona Showcases Huanchaco Furniture For Bars
Corona has collaborated with the northern Peruvian community of Huanchaco to showcase authentic, handcrafted furniture originating from artisans in that community.
The Peruvian artisans from Huanchaco are renowned for creating small reed boats – known as caballitos de totora – for more than 3,000 years. The canoe-like boats, constructed from totora reeds – found primarily in southern Peru near Lake Titicaca – are considered to be the world’s first surfboards and continue to be used by Peruvian fishermen today.
The Huanchaco artisans will be crafting functional benches, chairs, tables and other furniture from natural fibers to be supplied to Corona bars worldwide and will become part of Corona’s “Made in Huanchaco” campaign.
