Ardbeg Space Whisky Goes Up In Smoke
Ardbeg sent a sample of whisky into orbit on the International Space Station to determine the effect of micro-gravity on both the aroma and taste of whisky and after returning to Earth, the results are now in – and it is not good – unless you like smoke. Like, a lot of smoke. Ardbeg found that both the aroma and taste of their so-called “space whisky” was altered, not in a good way, and significantly in the smoky direction as determined by its tasting experts.
After returning to Earth, Ardbeg found in their report – see link below – that the space whisky had only two smoky scents when it came to aroma, however, when it came to taste, the experts listed four smoke or smoke-influenced notes associated with the space whisky [including one you would rather not hear associated with the taste of whisky – rubbery smoke].
