Halewood Artisanal Spirits Rolls Out New Whisky
A new whisky from Halewood Artisanal Spirits has been released, aged exclusively in four ex-Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry casks. The whisky was aged in small batches at Bonnington Distillery in Edinburgh.
“I am delighted to follow up our inaugural launch with this very nice Sherry cask release. The liquid itself is something we’re really proud of – aged in PX casks and cut at 47% ABV, it’s bold, rich, and full of flavor,” said Jamie Lockhart, distillery manager at Bonnington.
According to a report by The Spirit Business, the new whisky is leaning toward more fruity flavors. On the nose, the new spirit has aromas of ‘sweet sugar, pick and mix, fresh oak and green wood’. This is trailed by notes of ‘fresh, subtle red fruits, lightly dusted sugar on berries, and tannins’ on the palate.
“We carefully selected four PX casks from our inventory for this bottling, and I am delighted with the result. Our plan with Bonnington releases is to keep them in small batches. We have exciting ideas for 2024 with further limited bottlings planned,” said master blender Jill Boyd.

Over the next few weeks, Bonnington Sherry Cask will be available at specialist whisky retailers, including Master of Malt, Hard to Find Whisky, and The Whisky Exchange. Only 250 cases of Bonnington Sherry Cask will be available with a 47% ABV and in 700 ml bottles.
Bonnington Distillery produces Crabbie & Co whisky, which is Edinburgh’s first single malt in more than a century. In 2017, Bonnington distillery opened in Edinburgh on Graham Street in Leith, near the original John Crabbie’s site. The distillery takes its name from the original Bonnington House, one of the most prestigious names in Scotch whisky.
Halewood Artisanal Spirits’ portfolio includes Whitley Neill Gin, Dead Man’s Fingers rum, Aber Falls, Bankhall, and Samuel Gelston’s whiskies.
