Loch Lomond Tees Off With A Pair Of Single Malts
Loch Lomond has created a pair of single malt Scotch whiskies to commemorate men’s professional golf’s 149th British Open Championship scheduled to be held on July 15-18, 2021, at The Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, England, after being postponed last year due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Loch Lomond is an official sponsor of the Open and has created the Open Course Collection Royal St George’s 2021 and The Open Special Edition 2021 whiskies for the upcoming occasion.
Loch Lomond’s 20-year-old Open Course Collection Royal St George’s 2021 whisky has been created in collaboration with 2011 Open champion Darren Clarke [who also just happens to be a Loch Lomond ambassador] and was matured in English virgin oak casks, bottled at 50.2% alcohol by volume [100.4 proof] and is said to contain notes of caramel, cumin, elderflower and ginger.
The Loch Lomond Open Special Edition 2021 was created in collaboration with another Loch Lomond ambassador, Colin Montgomerie, and was matured in three American oak casks before being finished in virgin American oak, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume (92 proof) and is said to contain notes of fruit and smoke.
The Loch Lomond Open Special Edition 2021 is being made available for $55 per bottle while the Loch Lomond Open Course Collection is being made available for $220 per bottle.
